SOCCER GRADES 3-12 The ALLENDALE RECREATION COMMISSION SOCCER PROGRAM participates in the NORTHWEST BERGEN SOCCER ASSOCIATION [NWBSA - http://www.NWBSA.org ] and is open to children in grades 3 thru 12, regardless of ones experience and/or ability. NWBSA is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to the support and encouragement of a rich recreational experience for the youth and parents of the twenty communities it serves. As such, NWBSA administers the programs to facilitate and guide participation in the game; to assure adequate knowledge of the rules of safety and fair play; to conduct annual referee certification and review courses; to maintain and administer its Rules and Regulations of the Game; to supervise membership registration; and to produce a fair and balanced schedule of ten to eleven games each season [beginning of September thru mid November]. Members of the NWBSA Board and local community representatives meet ten times a year for this purpose. We encourage parents of the players to support the program by signing up to coach, referee, assist, or otherwise participate--either at the local community or at the Board level.

KINDER SOCCER Kinder Soccer is a co-ed fall sport for Pre-K and Kindergarten Children ages 4 & 5 (Please no 3 year olds, they are too young). In order to Register for the FALL 2009 Season your child should be born between August 1, 2004 and July 31, 2006. Kinder Soccer is played from mid September to mid November on Sunday Afternoons for One hour.
The goal of Kinder Soccer is to introduce the fundamentals of soccer, teach good sportsmanship and have fun. The first 30 mins will be devoted to fun drills and games like sharks and minnows, knock out, ice monster, etc. A game is played during the second 30 minutes. The teams will be broken down to play small side games (6v6 or 5v5) depending on the number of players per team.
This program relies heavily on parental volunteers. Due to the age of the children several coaches/assistant coaches are needed for each team. Coaches Clinics are held in early September for those who volunteer to coach. The coaches learn various drills and games. All Coaches/Assistant Coaches must have completed the Rutgers Safety Course (required by all ARC programs). Anyone who has not signed up to coach you will be assigned a concession stand responsibility.
At this level it is mandatory that a parent or guardian stay at the field because of safety reasons. Players will receive a T-shirt and should wear it to all games. Players are required to wear shin guards, socks and bring a # 3 Ball. Cleats are also recomended but are not required. They should bring a water bottle and arrive to the field on time. A participation award is given to each child at the end of the season.
